Can I use Lyft without the app?
Rider hailing apps like Uber and Lyft make it easy for people to get from point A to point B at a price generally lower than taking a taxi.
Yet these new transportation options are largely ignored by those without smartphones or those who aren’t able to use apps or read the small print once they’re downloaded.
According to the Pew Research Center, four out of ten seniors now own smartphones, more than double their share in 2013. Among people over 85, however, smartphone adoption declines dramatically. Among people 75 to 79 years of age, 61 percent own smartphones compared to just 30 percent among people 80 and older.
How to use Lyft without a smartphone
Lyft and Uber are popular apps that we take for granted.
Send your request, choose a pickup time and a payment method, and voila, your ride will arrive. Isn’t it frustrating when you don’t have a smartphone?
Consider the scenario of leaving your phone at home or running out of battery.
If you don’t have a smartphone, can you still use Lyft?
Using Lyft requires a smartphone app.
However, if you need to, you can use these services without a smartphone.
A mobile-friendly version of the lyft website is available at https://ride.lyft.com for smartphones and tablets with a bit of trouble.
It is now possible to request a ride from Lyft through a web browser, which makes the service more accessible.
How to Request Lyft Without a Smartphone?
Having trouble requesting an Uber or Lyft ride with no smartphone?
There’s no need to worry. It’s easy to request a ride if you have a mobile device or desktop browser, and we know that not everyone has a smartphone.
Lyft still requires a valid phone number for you to request one, even if it’s not your smartphone.
In order to access a Lyft ride, insert your phone number on this website (https://ride.lyft.com) to verify that you own the phone number.
Enter your pick-up and destination in the online browser once you’ve decided where to go. Once that’s complete, check your payment information and select “Request Lyft”.
Using the Lyft app on your smartphone is similar to requesting a ride.
You’ll be notified of any important updates via text message from Lyft.
Your ride request can also be tracked via the browser.
Lyft currently supports only original Lyft and Lyft Plus requests via the web. Lyft Line and Premier are also in the works to become mobile-friendly!
How to request a Lyft ride from your browser?
All Lyft services except Lux and Shared can be requested through any browser.
The Lyft standard service is fine. In this case, you will manually verify your phone number and pay through the browser instead of the app.
As long as your phone number is associated with your Lyft account, you will be logged in as soon as you enter it. An SMS code will need to be entered to verify the number if it’s not linked to an account.
